Aims & objectives of the society

  • To promote the rights and inclusion of people with Down syndrome in the society.
  • To provide the right information, support and resources to people with Down syndrome, their families and the professionals who work with them.
  • To promote and advocate for positive attitudes towards persons with Down’s syndrome and to create awareness about the potentials of persons with Down syndrome to be valued members of the society.
  • To help live a life free of medical complications.
  • To support families whose lives have been impacted by Down’s syndrome.
  • To empower the persons with Down’s syndrome for living a satisfying, hopeful and contributing life even with the limitations caused by the condition and to live an independent life free of medical complications. 
  •  To review policies and lobby government, and other agencies
  • Supporting the UN Conventions on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities, and to promote respect for their inherent dignity.
  • To bring together persons with Down’s syndrome and their families in the society and to develop an instant sense of community and connection and  encouraging them to share experiences, coping skills, strategies for recovery, as well as listening, validating and accepting.
  • To provide health care facility for persons with Down’s syndrome for routine screening for early intervention to address timely various co morbid conditions.
  •  To promote healthy lifestyle for the adolescents with Down’s syndrome.
  • To promote Inclusion of children with Down’s syndrome in mainstream education.
  • To create awareness about Down’s syndrome condition and preventive measures
  • To take necessary measures for prevention of disability due to Down’s Syndrome
  • To create facilities for prenatal screening and diagnosis of the Down’s syndrome
  • To create facilities for Genetic Counseling for the High Risk mothers and families
