Chandigarh Down Syndrome Society is a registered society under the Societies Registration Act (XXI of 1860) and as amended by Punjab Amendment Act, 1957. It is a joint venture of Genetic Centre, Government Medical College and Hospital-32 and Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID)-31, Chandigarh. While working with Down Syndrome and their families, a need was felt to bring them on board so that they become stakeholders in our efforts to minimize the chances of children with Down Syndrome as well as to provide quality care to the person who are already born with this disorder. Also the civil society wanted to become partner in our program. Hence, the Chandigarh Down Syndrome Society was born.
